Meeting with nature

You could see in Sologne all kinds of game :
- wild fowl (lots of ducks' breeds) by the ponds

- big game (roe deers, stags, does, wild boars) in forests, moors or fallow lands

- small game animals (rabbits, hares) or game birds (pheasants, partridges, pigeons) in plains or in undergrowths.

Shooting, in Sologne, is widely appraised for many reasons :
Its geographical location lays right across one of the main migration corridor. It is a shelter for all birds coming from northern Europe.
Since 1977, The national Hunting office and the Loir et Cher Hunters' Federation have purchased the magnificent Malzone pond (wet area: 42 hectares), in order to create a sanctuary for nature. In winter, it is not unusual to see thousand of ducks' breeds there.
Big game is more and more abundant within Sologne fauna.

Hunting and shooting hold an important standing in the local economy.

But, besides shooting, fishing is another main activity in Sologne economy.

In Salbris, one can go fishing, of course after getting a license from the local Fishing Society (Société de Pêche des Bredouillards 00 33 2 54 97 00 23) along 1.5 kilometres of river Sauldre and three lakes (two of which are devoted to fishing exclusively).
